Assistance to Executors

From time to time we hear stories where stock and layouts have been sold after a Member’s death to a commercial dealer, at a fraction of its true value.  To help avoid this we can give advice and guidance on the removal and disposal of Members’ hobby collections and we also offer a service to executors of deceased members’ wills.

Members Sales can assist with the sale of locomotives and rolling stock of deceased members.

Although Members’ Sales does not normally “buy in” model railway layouts, the Executor Assistance Service can, on a case by case basis, help in the sale of 009 layouts on behalf of the family of a deceased member.  In such cases the sale will be on behalf of the surviving spouse, partner, or family and the Members’ Sales Team will act as a facilitator between them and the 009 Society members.  The Society will publicise the sale on this website and/or in the 009 News at the discretion of the Sales and Editorial teams.

Hopefully you feel that Society membership has been of value to you and, subsequently, to your family. Please consider whether we could sell your items on behalf of your family to give them the best value for your collection. Have you indicated your wishes to your family, either through your will or a Letter of Direction to the executors, as to how you would wish them to dispose of your collection, when the inevitable occurs? A draft Letter of Direction can be obtained from the Sales team at members-sales@009society.com, or the Society Secretary, if you need help with this.
