009 Society Heritage Collection

The 009 Society’s heritage collection was established by David Burleigh in the late 1980s when a number of items from David Mander’s Stronachlachar railway were donated to the Society. Over the years the size of the collection has increased, both through items being donated to and purchased by the Society.

The collection does not aim to be a comprehensive collection of any modeller or manufacturer but is intended to be representative of the history of small scale narrow gauge modelling, defined as “Models of railways with a prototype gauge less than 4′ 8 1/2″ in scales 1:76 and 1:87 (with some leeway either way)”.

In the fullness of time a full catalogue of the collection will appear on this website, but with 200+ items currently held by the 009 Society this will take some time. However in the meantime here are a small selection of items.

These are a representative selection picked not because they are ‘the best’ in terms of age, rarity technical brilliance, or by any other measure but solely because I happen to like them…
