Area Groups
The 009 Society has always encouraged local groups; historically these would have been solely composed of members of the Society. However, as time has gone on groups have included non-members with the groups having their own financial and organisational structures separate from the 009 Society.
Area groups are now not formally constituted as part of the 009 Society, although the Society recognises and supports their activities. Area groups must have a minimum of three 009 Society members, and are sometimes known as ‘recognised’ groups.
There is no requirement to either submit accounts or follow the Society’s governance on the protection of vulnerable groups (although they are welcome to follow the Society’s policy). They are welcome to call on Society support (including Sales support and publicity) for members’ days and are welcome to send a representative to meetings of the 009 Society Committee providing that representative is a member of the 009 Society.

The 009 Society’s Governance on the Protection of Vulnerable Groups
Vulnerable Groups
There has been a lot of discussion and concern in regards to vulnerable groups which for 009 Society purposes is mainly related to those under the age of 16. There has been a lot of concern over the need for CRB checking etc. and so the Society policy has been drafted on the matter. The policy states we do not have any CRB checking of our members and as such minors attend at the parent/guardians risk. As such we have some forms that parents/guardians should complete to confirm that they understand the policy we have in place.
Similar documentation is also available for those involved in exhibitions as an exhibitor/marshal or any other person working/participating in the exhibition/open day but does not include visitors. Visitors enter the event at their own risk. The open day/exhibition insurance should be in place to cover any public liability occurrences and exhibition managers should check the policy documentation for any stipulations the insurance company places on the exhibition.
Area groups are advised to follow the policies.
Non 009 Society groups are welcome to follow 009 Society guidelines and are welcome to download and alter documentation for their own usage. However the 009 Society takes no responsibility for the accuracy/legality of any documentation downloaded.
The Society’s Governance on the Protection of Vulnerable Groups documents can be downloaded as a MS Word document or as PDF document .
